A Message From Our Principal
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!
I am excited to continue this school year as the principal of Hiawatha School. I have been apart of the Hiawatha community since 1999. I began my teaching career as a 1st grade teacher and moved into the role of Assistant Principal and am now in my 4th year as Principal. I love coming to work everyday and engaging with the students, staff, parents, and the community of Hiawatha.
I received my undergraduate degree from Illinois State University in Elementary Education. I also have a Masters degree from Saint Xavier University in Teacher Leadership, followed by a Masters Degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in Education Administration.
My husband Jeremy and I have 4 children, our oldest son Colin, and triplets Kayla, Haley, and Aidan. I have always had a passion to watch children grow and am lucky enough to be with the Hiawatha students during the day and my own children in the evenings.
We are looking forward to continuing on our dual language journey and entering our 4th year as a Dual Language school. This school year we will have students in Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade this year. We will also continue our 1:1 learning environment this year with all students using iPads to help achieve success in the classroom. We will continue to host monthly parent coffees, bring your family to school day, as well as evening opportunities to showcase student learning. We look forward to seeing you at Hiawatha and taking an active role in your child’s education.
If at anytime you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact us.
